Homecoming

This past weekend was homecoming at W&L. On Saturday morning, many young alumni, from a couple of different classes, showed up to participate in the annual alumni game at Alumni field. The alumni game permits former W&L women’s lacrosse players to enjoy the sport they love with former teammates and meet the new faces of General’s lacrosse. This event also provides current players with the opportunity to meet alumni and catch up with teammates that graduated. The game consisted of two 30-minute halves. Although it was a competitive game, the spirit of the game was more about having fun. What better way to end the fall season than an alumni game, and to share this experience with those who have come before us, and embody what it means so show General Pride!

Play Day Re-Cap

This weekend, the Generals played in their first games of the 2012-2013 season. The annual Fall Ball Play Day took place this past Saturday, where the team faced off against many competitors that they will see in season. CNU, Mary Washington, Roanoke, and Lynchburg came to Lexington to play against the W&L team.
The Generals played four 30 minute games against ODAC components Roanoke and Lynchburg and in region competitors Mary Washington and CNU. Although the official scores were not kept, we are pretty sure the Generals went 2-1-1 in scrimmage play - pretty impressive for only playing together for a short 3 weeks! This was a great opportunity for the team to come together and show how much all of their hard work this fall has paid off. Family and friends of the team all came out to show their support and the parents organized a tailgate for the players. At the end of the day, the players and their parents came together to celebrate the season's first success! With only two more practices left of the fall ball season, the Generals look forward to facing off against alumnae this Saturday for the annual player-alumnae game!

Team Circuit

Yesterday was our third round of circuits and it is a hard one, but every time we finish we realize that we're better because of it. It pulls us together and makes us united, relentless and proud. United we are - we're all in it together until the last person has crossed the finish line. We put each other on the line everyday and push for one another to be even better, but at the end of the day we stand together as one unit ready to face any opponent. Relentless is how we play, we never give up. Our circuit is an example of this, even when we're tired no one stops, no one hesitates. We work hard and push our limits. Pride is how we feel about our team, our school, our community. We're proud of where we've come from and what we will do this season. We strive for the best and will continue to exceed our goals and circuit is one of the things that'll help us achieve that.
