2012 is Under Way and Meet the Players - First Year Catherine Klinedinst

Only two days into the 2012 season and the Generals have already hit the ground running!  The whole team has completed their strength tests in the weight room, started to put our basic defensive and attacking principles into place, and has just gone 100% at practice each day.  Yesterday we were even treated to a little preview of what the weather may be like in a few months (see picture below)!  While we aren't expecting to be able to pass around in t-shirts every day of preseason, we definitely aren't complaining!

Now, the blog would like to present first year Generals lacrosse and field hockey player, Catherine Klinedinst...

1.  Name: Catherine Klinedinst
2.  Year:  Freshman
3.  Position:  Attack
4.  Major:  Undecided
Me and my family

5.  Where do you live on campus?  3rd floor Graham Lees... it's unreal.
6.  Favorite lacrosse memory?  My freshman year in high school.  I was on varsity with girls who were ten time better than I was, which was intimidating at first, but playing with them helped me improve so much.  The best thing about that year by far was my coach, Alivian Jorgenson.  She's the greatest coach I've ever had and is one of the main reasons I decided I wanted to play in college.

Me and some field hockey teammates

7.  Goals for 2012?  To have good time management.  Since I played field hockey in the fall, I know how important that is.  I also really want to win ODACs and beat Gettysburg.
8.  What do you miss most from home?  Definitely mom's cooking, my church, and my CAR (shout out to my parents... Let me have my car please)!

My dad and I at W&L when I was a baby

9.  Favorite thing about W&L?  Literally everything... The environment of the school is so friendly and I get to have academics, athletics, and fun!  I could honestly go on for hours about how much I love it here.
10.  If you could have a super power what would it be?  I wish I had the ability to buy clothes and have it cost no money.  Flying would also be cool.

Thank you to Catherine for sharing some great information and an even better picture that I'm sure the W&L public relations office would love to get their hands on!

The Generals Join the World of Social Media

While the women's lacrosse team here at W&L has had a long standing blog, we have decided to update ourselves a little bit and dive even further into the world of social media.

Today we launched our very own Facebook page!

While the blog will continue to be updated each week with stories, profiles, and information, our Facebook page will offer the avid Generals fan another kind of look inside the world of the women's lacrosse team. One of the exciting things that will show more prominently on the Facebook page will be videos. If you head over to W&L Women's Lacrosse right now you can see Caroline Kingsbery in an impromptu chat. And make sure to "Like" us while you're there!

For those of you out there who are as excited as we are for the launch of our Facebook page, get even more excited because the Generals will be Tweeting as soon as Monday January 23rd! Followers on Twitter will have even more inside access as the Generals will be Tweeting even more often than we update our Facebook page and blog!

We hope that all of our avid blog readers will contiue to enjoy the blog as well as join us on Facebook and Twitter. Make sure to check the Facebook page or the blog for our Twitter name on Monday January 23rd as we kick off the season with our first practice!

Next week the blog goes inside the start of the 2012 season!

Meet the Generals - Sophomore Greta Witter

As we start to round out our class of 2014, Greta Witter introduces herself to us all!

1. Name: Greta Witter
2. Year: Sophomore
3. Position: Attack

4. Major: Economics & Politics

Some laxers before homecoming.

5. Where do you live on campus? Kappa Alpha Theta sorority house
6. Favorite memory of last season: Although I have some pretty found memories of long hours spent on the back of the bus last season (ex. Atlanta), my favorite memory would have to be our regular season game at Roanoke. It felt so good to beat them on their home field - the energy was incredible. My classmate and twin Margaret Klein scored somewhere around chwenty goals, and it was so much fun to watch.

Everybody move to the back of the bus!

7: Goals for this year: My biggest goal for our team in this 2012 season is to come to practice and to games with a differently level of intensity than we did last year. I think we have the natural talent to do big things with our season if we all put in the mental effort.

8. What do you miss most from home? I miss hanging out with my brothers. I miss having the opportunity to sleep all day.

Margaret Kelin (chwin) and I!

9. What is your favorite thing about W&L? My favorite thing about W&L is the fact that the library is open 24/7. I have spent a lot of excessively long nights on the fourth floor.

10. If you could have a super power what would it be? My super power would definitely be to fly. Overused? Yes, but it's everyone's go-to choice because it's clearly the best super power.

Thanks to Greta for all of her answers this week. Next week the blog has an exciting announcement as to how the Generals are catching up with the rest of the world!

7. Goals for 2012: Win the ODAC championship, qualify for NCAAs, and hopefully get to the final four!!! Never forget to have fun, that's what sports are for! And to stick together and play as a team!

LAX4LYFE, a motto to live by.

8. What do you miss most from home? Aside from my high school friends and family, I really miss living near the water (Long Island Sound).

9. Favorite thing about W&L? How friendly everyone here is, the fact that I can be dedicated to lacrosse (the sport I love) and still be very dedicated to my academics. It provides a great balance between work and fun!

Great (fellow sophomore lacrosse player) and I during homecoming weekend!

10. If you could have a super power what would it be? I would want to be able to snap my fingers and have whatever food I want instantly appear in front of me (Gennies laxers love to eat) OR be able to hold my breath forever.

Big thanks to Leanne for her time ane interesting super power ideas! Come to the blog next week as we start to round out the class of 2014!
