Generals' Reviews - Blue Sky

The newest edition to our blog is the creation of "Generals' Reviews".  These little gems let you into not only the minds of the Generals laxers, but their stomaches as well!  In the coming weeks get prepared for your mouth to water as our laxers turn into foodies and tell you about their favorite spots in Lexington.  This week Katie McCartin '15 is our first reviewer!

Forecast in Lexington, Virginia calls for Blue Sky.

Blue Sky Bakery that is! Located at the corner of Lee Avenue and West Nelson Street this lunchtime hotspot is a little slice of heaven in the small town of Lexington.  From freshly baked bagels to scrumptious sandwich creations to divine desserts this bakery has everything to keep locals and Washington and Lee students alike coming back for more...and more. In fact stop in Blue Sky around twelve Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday and you will see just that: people waiting in line, usually passed the door, for more.

What, you may ask sparks this Blue Sky obsession? It could be the mouthwatering menu which offers customers a variety of soup, salad, and sandwich options and even the chance to customize their sandwich however they desire! It may be the delicious desserts placed strategically on display to temp those who peek. Or it might be the cozy atmosphere, created by mismatched but welcoming tables and chairs, old photos and articles attracting attention on the walls, and the friendly bakers cheerfully serving customers. Whatever it is that draws you in, I guarantee you'll be back soon because no matter what the forecast Blue Sky Bakery will brighten your day!

Why I'm an expert? After careful review my bank statement shows 200$ worth of charges at blue sky....in 3 months.
Fun fact: For those who are on the go there is always the option to phone in an order for pick up.

My favorites

Soup: chicken noodle
Sandwich: mikes bqq (a Thursday special) or the chipotle club ( turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and chipotle mayo all on homemade focaccia bread) *all sandwiches come with chips or homemade black bean salad
