Hello Families, Friends and Followers!

I'm excited to formally introduce myself as the newest member of the Women's Lacrosse Staff, and I'm very much looking forward to the start of 2012-2013 season.

As a former Loyola University Maryland Greyhound, I'm finding the intimate town of Lexington, and the private setting of Washington and Lee University, to be very familiar and comfortable as I'm getting settled into my new home.

Generals' Reviews - Frank's Pizza

This week sophomore Sammy Yates takes over the blog to fill us in on one of the best pizza places in town!

Frank's Pizza

Serving the best pizza in town, Frank’s is a great place to go for lunch or dinner any day! It has the three best qualities a restaurant can offer to college students: 1) casual attire (Studying in sweats with no time to get dolled up? No problem, grab a slice at Frank’s in your comfy clothes!), 2) open on Sundays and 3) it’s cheap! (All menu items are under $10). The employees are always welcoming to customers, whether it’s a large party or a table for two. The restaurant has two rooms for seating, providing more than enough room for all. Televisions are also scattered throughout for your entertainment.

Frank’s inexpensive, yet exquisite menu does not stop at pizza; it also offers a variety of subs, pastas, and salads. A fan favorite is Frank’s chicken Parmesan sub, which our very own Katie Hagen says is “to die for!” I personally love the house salad with grilled chicken and ask for pizza cheese on top to spice it up even more! Frank’s also offers an antipasto salad, pasta dishes like penne vodka and ziti, hot and cold subs like a cheese steak or a regular Italian, calzones and much more!

With its tasty Italian variety, Frank’s is a never a let down. Although it does not offer delivery, it is definitely worth the drive to pick up their take out with some pals. Take out is also a great option for those long rides on the lax bus!

Now our readers have a choice to make, which pizza is better, Frank's or Salerno's???  Make sure to check out both to decide! 

Generals' Reviews - Stop In

This week may not be your traditional restaurant review, but still one of the Generals' favorites!  Julia VanSant '15 fills us in on the Stop In Food Store!

Stop In is a food store located in the Exxon gas station in Lexington town. While this may seem like your typical fast food and snack place, it is visited frequently by W&L students and is famous for its hot dogs. 

Stop In is a quick walk from the GL dorms and main campus. Not only are these hot dogs some of the best hot dogs I've had (hot dogs happen to be one of my favorite foods, so I am a tough critic) but they also only cost 97 cents per hot dog! Therefore, it is an inexpensive and quick way to enjoy a delicious meal! This station is a self serve station with condiments such as ketchup, mustard, relish, and onions- your typical hot dog toppings. You can choose bun or no bun.

There is nothing better than grabbing a hot dog before floating down the Maury river or making a trip to Panther Falls- trips that the Gennies lacrosse team loves to do! While Stop In is famous for its hot dogs, they sell many different items in addition. For example, Sammy Yates, a mid fielder for the Generals, loves their beef jerky in addition to their hot dogs.
