The Power of Title IX

As last week was the 40th Anniversary of Title IX, we wanted to share with you all some great links to stories that relate to both Title IX and lax, whether it's here in Lexington or anywhere at all!

While Title IX helped girls across the country, it definitely help build our history here at Washington & Lee!
Lisa Costello '93 played a huge role in the early days of Generals Lacrosse.

The 2011 Alumnae Game brought back some of our more recent history makers!

Make sure to check out this article from Lacrosse Magazine that chronicles some of the biggest names in our sport and what Title IX has meant to them.

While it is always fun to see some of the "celebrities" of our sport shine in the spotlight, it's even cooler when one of our own gets to shine.  During ESPN W's quest to create the largest photo mosaic of female athletes in the world MK tweeted @espnW with the hashtag #IXMOSAIC, "Title IX is mine because it gives us the opportunity to connect with other women who share our same passions!"  The result was actually many Generals laxers making it into the mosaic, but one pretty amazing one in particular...

ESPN W has done some really cool things in relation to Title IX recently, but they are doing amazing things for women's sports all the time!  As the Olympics approach make sure to check out their website for tons of cool stuff with women as the focus!  Also, if you are following us on Twitter (@GeneralsWLax) you should be following them too (@espnW)!

This week was a great time to reflect on what Title IX has given to all of us involved with women's athletics, and we Generals could not be more thankful!
